DOMAINE

DE SOUSTRES

Situated on the hillsides facing the Oppidum of Ensérune, a Celto-Ligurian walled city dating back to the 6th century BC, Domaine de Soustres overlooks the surrounding plains from its terraces and cypress trees.

Vines have been grown here as far back as Gallo-Roman times. The number of agricultural plantings has diminished over the centuries to be replaced with hamlets such as Saint-Jean de Tessan which was renamed Soustres in the 13th century.

The vineyards are located in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful agricultural landscapes, the former Etang de Colombiers-Montady, which was drained for the purposes of farming in the Middle Ages.
